Warrant Arrest, Check Fraud, Theft Reported In Westfield

Westfield Police released its blotter for incidents over the past week.

WESTFIELD, NJ — Warrant arrests, check fraud, theft and more was reported in the latest police blotter in Westfield.

Westfield Police Blotter – April 20 to April 26:

On April 21 at 10:30 a.m.: Officers Taha and Beal arrested Alvin Colon, 74, of Irvington, on a no-bail NCIC Warrant out of Elizabeth Municipal Court, subsequent to a motor vehicle stop on Cardinal Drive. Colon was taken to headquarters, where he was processed and turned over to the Elizabeth Police Department.

On April 21 at 1 p.m.: A resident from the 600 block of Dorian Road reported a found children's bicycle on their property. The bicycle, a black and pink "LittleMissMatched," was left on their property sometime overnight on April 19. The bicycle was turned over to police.

On April 23 at 6:30 p.m.: An employee of a business on the 100 block of East North Avenue reported mailing a check via US Postal Service for $5,380.31 to pay for building maintenance expenses. It was later determined that this check was intercepted while in transit and deposited into an unrelated bank account, amounting to check fraud. The appropriate banking institutions were notified and are currently reviewing the matter.

On April 24 at 12:07 p.m.: Mark A. Reid, 64, of Roselle, was placed under arrest on the strength of a $132 traffic warrant out of Roselle Borough Municipal Court following a motor vehicle stop on East Broad Street near Elm Street. He was processed at the scene and released on his own recognizance pending court appearance.

On April 26 at 2:58 p.m.: Westfield Police received a report of a theft of a personal electronic device valued at more than $200 while the victim was patronizing a business in the 100 block of Central Avenue.
