Westfield Area Y Educates And Protects Children By Offering Child Abuse Awareness Training

Westfield Area Y is taking steps to educate and protect children within our community by participating in the 'Darkness to Light' program.

The Westfield Area Y is taking steps to educate and protect children within our community by participating in the “Darkness to Light” program. A “Child Sexual Abuse Prevention Training” will be held on Tuesday, October 7th and Thursday, November 6th from 6:30-8:30pm at the Main Y Facility, 220 Clark Street in Westfield.

This program educates adults to prevent, recognize and react responsibly to child sexual abuse. The training session will help adults build awareness on what to look for and steps to follow in order to protect our children. Child sexual abuse is an agonizing and traumatic experience for its victims and is a crime punishable by law.

The training is FREE for adults only and open to Y members and the community. Interested participants should register in advance and in person at the Welcome Center. Please call Susan Morton at (908) 654-8460 or email smorton@westfieldynj.org to schedule training for any adult group or if you have any questions.
