Westfield Board of Education Welcomes New Members

On January 6, Board Attorney Richard Kaplow officiated the swearing-in of newly elected Westfield Board of Education members ( left to right ) Peggy Oster, Christopher Langhart and re-elected member Mark Friedman.

Officially beginning their three-year terms, they recited the Oath of Office prior to the business portion of the meeting. At the start of the meeting,Mitch Slater nominated Richard Mattessich to retain the position as President of the Board of Education.

Mr. Slater pointed out that under Mr. Mattessich’s leadership, the Board accomplished many positive initiatives that have benefitted all Westfield stakeholders.

Mark Friedman nominated Gretchan Ohlig as Vice President. Mr. Friedman praised Ms. Ohlig’s collaborative approach on the Board and noted that she has served on almost all committees and would be excellent as part of the leadership team.

The Board was unanimous in electing Mr. Mattessich and Ms. Ohlig to these positions. All members agreed to abide by the School Board Association Code of Ethics, which was read aloud.

The Westfield Board of Education for 2015 includes:
