Westfield Memorial Library has new Library App for Smart Phones
Westfield Library now has an app so users can easily access the library website by simply tapping on their smart phones instead of typing.
(October 14, 2016) – The Westfield Memorial Library has joined the growing number of libraries offering mobile apps for smart phones. Available from the Apple app store and Google Play, the app works with both Android and Apple devices.
Depending on which type of device patrons have, they can visit the appropriate app store, search Westfield Library and then download the app, which is free from either source.
Users are able to do everything through the app that they normally do by accessing the library’s website from their phones: search the catalog for materials; access music, movies, audiobooks and ebooks through Hoopla, Overdrive, OneClick Digital and Freading; check their own accounts; use the databases for research; and sign up for programs.

According to the Pew Research Center’s “Technology Device Ownership: 2015” survey, released last fall, almost 70 percent of US adults now own a smart phone. A poll, conducted by the Allstate/National Journal Heartland Monitor and also released last fall, found that Internet users are more likely to use mobile devices as their primary form of access rather than traditional computers.
In light of these trends, Library Director Phil Israel said, “Our patrons have long used our fully responsive website to access our resources and their accounts on smart phones, but the app provides a much more seamless experience. It is much easier and quicker for the user to tap on a smart phone than to type.”
