Westfield Memorial Library Presents Schedule of All Spanish Language Activities for Children

Activities include science, crafts, dance and reading circles

The is pleased to present a fall schedule of activities for children that are conducted entirely in Spanish. Sponsored by Grupo ñ, the activities include science, crafts, dance and reading circles.

Grupo ñ is a group of community volunteers who conduct storytimes and other activities for children and their parents entirely in Spanish. No advance registration is required—the public can feel free to “drop in.”

On Sunday, September 30 from 2 p.m., Rocio and Hernan Explore Science with fun science activities for all ages.

On Sunday, October 28 at 2 p.m., Grupo ñ  presents A Fabric Craft with Mercedes Lazaro. This hands-on craft activity is geared for children ages 4 to 8.

Leidy Diaz returns to the Library on Sunday, November 18 at 2 to teach the Merengue to children and their parents.

Fati and Charles also return to the library for a sing-along, move-along, dance-along activity on Sunday, December 2 at 2 p.m.

Reading Circles for children ages 6 and younger will be presented on four Sundays at 2 p.m. September 23, October 14, November 4 and December 9.

Kathy Muhm, Coordinator of Youth Services, said, “We are so fortunate to have access to these talented, creative and energetic native speaking Spanish-language presenters who kindly volunteer their time in our community.”

Founded in 1879, the Westfield Memorial Library—the community’s destination for discovery and ideas—engages minds, entertains spirits and facilitates lifelong learning for people of all ages. Hours are 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Thursday; 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday and Saturday; and 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
