Westfield Officer Ryan Weiss Promoted To Sergeant
During his 10 years, he was awarded 4 Life Saving Medals, a Medal of Merit, 2 Command Citations, and the COVID-19 Exceptional Service Award.

WESTFIELD, NJ — Plainclothes Officer Ryan Weiss was promoted to the rank of Sergeant effective Dec. 1, announced Westfield Police Chief Christopher Battiloro.
Sgt. Weiss, 36, is a 2006 graduate of the Union County Academy for Information Technology in Scotch Plains and a 2009 graduate of Saint Peter’s College in Jersey City.
He served as a Combat Medic Specialist in the New Jersey Army National Guard from 2011 to 2017, and as a Police Officer for the Township of Winfield Park from 2012 until his appointment to the Westfield Police Department on Sept. 8, 2014.

Weiss was designated as a Plainclothes Officer and assigned to the Detective Bureau on May 8, 2023.
During his 10 years of completed service with the Westfield Police Department, he was awarded four Life Saving Medals, a Medal of Merit, two Command Citations, and the COVID-19 Exceptional Service Award, and been certified by the International Association of Chiefs of Police as a Drug Recognition Expert.

Weiss is a second-generation Westfield Police Officer. His father, Robert, served as a member of the Westfield Police Department from Oct. 10, 1984, until his retirement on May 1, 2010.
"Sergeant Weiss’s past performance, both as a Patrol Officer and a Plainclothes Officer, has
been exceptional, and he is unquestionably worthy of this promotion to Sergeant," said Chief Battiloro.
Weiss will be assigned to the Operations Division as a patrol supervisor.
