Westfield Restaurant Ranked Among Best In New Jersey

WESTFIELD, NJ — This Westfield restaurant was named among the 25 Best Restaurants in New Jersey by New Jersey Monthly.

Chez Catherine, 431 North Avenue West in Westfield has once again been named to the list. And it is the only Union County restaurant on it.

Here is the review by New Jersey Monthly:

"At the end of this year, Didier Jouvenet, 67—one of the last great, gracious, infinitely fastidious, Old School French restaurateurs working this side of the big pond—will retire. He will release Chez Catherine into the capable hands and charming mien of his longtime maître d’hôtel, Stéphane Bocket.

Still, you’d be wise to catch Jouvenet now on the equivalent of Mariano Rivera’s farewell tour, though enacted in the same place every night. And what a lovely little place it is—a dining room as intimate and well appointed as the most elegant home. Chef de cuisine Klaus Kronsteiner’s summer menu includes some welcome nods to modernity, such as a shrimp carpaccio with grilled garlic, lemon aioli and paprika oil. But don’t overlook the timeless luxury of whole sole meunière in brown butter and lemon, filleted tableside by the master himself."
