Westfield Students Dance For Charity

Westfield High School Community Service Club raised money for Children's Specialized Hospital.

WESTFIELD, NJ - The Westfield High School Community Service Club raised $7,683 at its 3rd Annual Dance Marathon for Children's Specialized Hospital.

"We could not be prouder of the club and the community and we thank them for their generosity," said club advisors Zorana Culjak and Greg Bowers in a statement.

There was also dancing at McKinley Elementary School as well as students and staff danced to raise money for the Karyn Research Fund, founded by a former McKinley teacher whose daughter died 23 years ago from leukemia. The Karyn Fund supports the research of leukemia and other pediatric cancers.

Organized by teachers Christina Toulios, Alexandra Urso, and Stephanie Willis, the McKinley-Thon has raised more than $70,000 since its inception 8 years ago.

Children's Specialized Hospital, a nonprofit organization, treats children and adolescents facing special health challenges – from chronic illnesses and complex physical disabilities like brain and spinal cord injuries, to developmental and behavioral issues like autism and mental health. Children's Specialized Hospital Foundation supports the programs and services of the hospital and all donations go directly to helping us pioneer new specialized care and serve more children in need.
