Westfield Woman Among 5 Arrested For Drugs

Five people were arrested for Marijuana possession in Westfield including a township man.

WESTFIELD, NJ — Five people were arrested for Marijuana possession in Westfield including a township man, according to the blotter.

Mercedes Poyntz, 56, of Westfield was arrested for Possession of Marijuana under 50 grams pursuant to a motor vehicle stop in the area of Tamaques Way and Norwood Drive on Oct. 27 at 3:42 p.m., according to Westfield police.

She was transported to Westfield Police Department where she was processed and released on a summonses.

On Oct. 22 at 2:45 a.m.: Hassan Lucas of Newark was arrested for Hindering Apprehension and an outstanding warrant out of Newark for $250 pursuant to a motor vehicle stop. He was later released on a summonses and ROR on the Newark warrant. Jordan Banks of Newark was also arrested on a warrant out of Bloomfield for $150 during the same motor vehicle stop. Banks was later released on his own recognizance.

On Oct. 24 at 3:32 p.m.: Sanejah Simms, 23, of Roselle Park was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of Westfield Municipal Court for $140. Simms was picked up from the East Orange Police Department and transported to Westfield Police Department. Simms processed and released after posting bail.

On Oct. 24 at 3:57 p.m.: Britany Morton, 27, of Newark was arrested on two outstanding warrants out of Westfield Municipal Court for $124. Morton was processed and posted bail.

On Oct. 26 at 4:36 p.m.: Mark E. Elliott, 40, of Newark was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of Maplewood for $150 pursuant to a motor vehicle stop in the area of Barchester Way and Naworth Pass. He was transported to Westfield Police Department where he was processed and released after posting full bail.

On Oct. 26 at 6:43 p.m.: A resident of the 600 block of Kimball Avenue reported being a victim of theft. According to the victim a mail package delivered to his home was stolen by unknown suspect(s) on Oct. 26 between 11:08 a.m. and 6:15 p.m. Value of package estimated at $100.

On Oct. 27 at 3:15 p.m.: Vitaly Shpilman, 48, of Westfield was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of Union County Sheriff's Office after surrendering himself to the Westfield Police Department. He was processed and placed in a cell awaiting transport to the Union County Jail.

On Oct. 29 at 7:57 p.m.: Ameerah Carter, 36, of Avenel on an outstanding warrant out of Westfield Municipal Court for $120 pursuant to a prisoner pick up in Clark with the state police. She was transported to Westfield Police Department where she was processed and released after posting full bail.

On Oct. 29 at 11:38 p.m.: Salvatore Tortorecco, 28, of Garwood on two outstanding warrant out of Howell Township Municipal Court for $1,500 and $1,000 pursuant to a motor vehicle stop in the area of Sycamore Street by Central Avenue. He was transported to Westfield Police Department where he was processed and turned over to Howell Police in lieu of bail.

On Oct. 30 at 7:08 p.m.: Mario Herran, 55, of Mountainside was arrested Driving While Intoxicated pursuant to an accident investigation in the area of East Broad Street and Gallows Hall Road. He was transported to Westfield Police Department where he was processed and released to a sober adult.

On Oct. 30 at 9:23 p.m.: A resident in the 500 block of North Chestnut Street reported being the victim of criminal mischief. He claimed his home was damaged by silly string and his garden was damaged. Total amount of damage is $500.

On Oct. 31 at 1:07 a.m.: Jasmine Munoz, 24, of Elizabeth was arrested for Possession of Marijuana under 50 grams pursuant to a motor vehicle stop in the area of East Broad Street and North Avenue. She was transported to Westfield Police Department where she was processed and released on a summonses.

On Oct. 31 at 5:56 p.m.: Jean Hernandez, 28, of Elizabeth was arrested for Distribution of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia pursuant to a motor vehicle stop in the area of Central Avenue and Sussex Street. He was transported to Westfield Police Department where he was processed and released on a mandatory court date.

On Nov. 1 at 3:13 p.m.: Rich McMurrian, 52, of Plainfield was arrested for Possession of Marijuana under 50 grams, Possession of CDS Paraphernalia, and Possession of Prescription Legend Drugs pursuant to motor vehicle stop on West North Avenue near Clark Street. He was transported to Westfield Police Department where he was processed and released on a summonses with a court date.

On Nov. 2 at 2:26 p.m.: Michael Smith, 29, of Newark was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of Newark Municipal Court pursuant to a traffic stop on West North Avenue near Locust Avenue. He was transported to Westfield Police Department where he was processed and released after posting full bail.

On Nov. 2 at 6:58 p.m.: A resident of Manchester Drive reported a victim of theft. The victim stated that at approximately 2:45 p.m. a cell phone was stolen from the 500 block of Dorian Road by unknown suspect(s). Value of the phone is $800.

On Nov. 2 at 5:18 p.m.: Giovanni Sacca, 22, of Elizabeth was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of Fanwood Municipal Court for $250 pursuant to a traffic stop. Sacca was transported to Westfield Police Department where Sacca was processed and released after posting full bail.

On Nov. 3 at 6 p.m.: A resident from the 1000 block of Grandview Avenue reported that unknown actor(s) gained entry into their car and stole an Apple iPod worth $500.

On Nov. 4 at 2:54 a.m.: Samal K. Williams, 24, of Union was arrested at South Orange Police headquarters pursuant to a prisoner pick up. He was transported to Westfield Police Department where he was processed and placed in a cell due to default of bail. He was being held on two outstanding warrants out of Westfield Municipal Court for $1,500 and Union Township Municipal Court for $1,468.

On Nov. 4 at 9:08 a.m.: An abandoned child's bicycle was found in the area of 300 First Street. The bike is described as pink in color and Electric Stardum Malibu with white tires. Officers were unable to locate an owner and it is being helped at headquarters.

On Nov. 4 at 9:53 p.m.: Daniel Murillo, 27, of Elizabeth was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of Clifton Municipal Court for $500. He was released after posting full bail.

On Nov. 4 at 11:56 p.m.: Keith L. Gaines, 54, of Scotch Plains was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated pursuant to a motor vehicle stop in the area of East Broad Street and North Chestnut Street. He was transported to Westfield Police Department where he was processed and released to a sober adult.

On Nov. 6 at 3:15 a.m.: Nicholas Grace, 21, of Scotch Plains was arrested Driving While Intoxicated pursuant to a motor vehicle accident investigation in the area of Mill Road and Jacobs Lane. He was transported to Westfield Police Department where he was processed and released to a sober adult.

On Nov. 7: Skm Bim Marke, 24, of Scotch Plains was arrested Possession of CDS under 50 grams pursuant to a motor vehicle stop. He was transported to Westfield Police Department where he was processed and released on a summonses.
