Uncle Louie G. Sets Up Italian Ice Shop on Elm Street
Franchise expected to open later this spring.

There's an old saying "There's always room for ice cream," but is there room in Westfield for one more frozen dessert shop?
Uncle Louie G. thinks so. Uncle who, you ask? If that name sounds vaguely familiar you may remember seeing the homemade gourmet Italian ice and ice cream shops at the Jersey shore. Now Westfielders can save their toll money and put it toward sampling one of Uncle Louie G's 45 Italian ice flavors when the franchise opens at 57 Elm Street later this spring.
Ice cream lovers will have the option of creating a custom cake by choosing two of their favorite flavors (there are more than 30 on the menu), layered with their choice of "cake crunch, crushed Oreos, or pound cake in the middle," according to Uncle Louie G's website. Custom cakes should be ordered two days in advance.

So, will Uncle Louie G. be the cherry on top of Westfield's ample frozen dessert offerings? When passersby took notice of the sign in the window of the storefront, sandwiched between Urban Outfitters and Tamar Jewelry, they told Patch "Louie G. is awesome!" and said they were glad to see the business come north.
Uncle Louie G. is currently dishing out his frosty fare at 30 stores in eight states, and is expanding in central New Jersey with another shop opening soon in Dunellen.
