WEST ORANGE, NJ — UPDATE: Due to the unsafe road conditions, all West Orange Public Schools will be closed Tuesday, officials announced in an update. All district-wide events are canceled. Our original article follows below.
There will be a delayed opening for the West Orange Public School District on Tuesday, Feb. 28 due to the weather forecast.
A low-pressure system moving into the region late Monday could bring five to eight inches of snow, as well as ice, in some parts of the Garden State, according to AccuWeather.

A winter weather advisory has been issued for western Essex County from Monday at 6 p.m. through Tuesday at 1 p.m.
West Orange school administrators issued the following message about Tuesday’s delayed opening:

“Due to the inclement weather, all schools will be on a 90-minute delayed opening schedule for today/tomorrow Tuesday, February 28, 2023. West Orange High School will begin at 9 a.m. Edison, Liberty and Roosevelt will begin at 9:40 a.m. The preK and elementary schools will begin at 10:15 a.m.”
"If further precautions require us to close, we will send out notification by 5 a.m. on [Tuesday]," district administrators said.
The West Orange Board of Education meeting scheduled for Monday has been cancelled, the district noted. It has been rescheduled for Monday, March 6.
