$1M Powerball Lotto Ticket Sold in Bergen County

It may not have been the $338 million Powerball jackpot winning ticket, but someone who stopped into a Mahwah convenience store to buy a lotto ticket is now a millionaire.

The second prize Powerball winning ticket, worth $1 million, was sold at the Franklin Turnpike 7 Eleven in Mahwah, NJ Lottery announced Monday.

Lotto officials were not available Monday afternoon to confirm whether or not the person has yet claimed the prize.

According to the release, the one grand prize winning ticket, worth $338 million, was sold at Eagle Liquor in Passaic. The jackpot is the fourth largest in Powerball history.

The winning numbers, which were drawn Saturday, were 17, 29, 31, 52 and 53. The Red Power Ball number was 31.

Five third place tickets, worth $10,000 each, were also sold in NJ, the release said. Those tickets were sold at the Exxon in Fort Lee, 7 Eleven in Cape May, A&P in Denville, Quick Chek in Madison, and the Exxon in Scotch Plains, the release said.

“This is an amazing win for New Jersey, the lucky ticket holders and the retailers,” Carole Hedinger, Executive Director of the NJ Lottery, said in the release. “The revenue that was generated by the Powerball lottery sales preceding this win will help to support vital programs and institutions that serve our residents.” 

According to the release, 152,830 other New Jersey Lottery players won smaller prizes ranging from $4 to $200 each, together worth an estimated $1,849,894.
