The Holiday Bloat and How to Beat It

For the next 14 days, replace all grains and starches will colorful veggies. That's right...no bread, pasta, rice, potatoes, or any other similar "carb" source.

Well, the holidays are now over, and the blues often begin.  You may feel lethargic, uncomfortable, and about 10 pounds heavier than you were November 21st.  Fear not...there are ways of alleviating the stress that may come from such discomfort.  It will require a little work on your part, but hey, welcome to THE GYM!

For the next 14 days, replace all grains and starches will colorful veggies.  That's right...no bread, pasta, rice, potatoes, or any other similar "carb" source.  Instead, substitute green vegetables which can include spinach, bell peppers, zucchini, squash, green beans, broccoli...you name it.  Be sure to include lean protein with each meal, and increase your activity to an hour daily, whether it is cardiovascular activity or weight training.  Eliminating starchy carbs for awhile will allow your body to release all of the water weight you gained over the last few weeks, creating a bit more breathing room in those jeans.  The daily activity will ensure you are burning calories to get a head start on that New Year's Resolution you set in motion.  Also, be sure to drink plenty of water to help hydrate the body and flush out any extra water the body is holding.

I hope you find this information helpful and inspiring.

Good luck and Happy New Year!
