There Shall Be No Needy: Social Justice and the Jewish Tradition

Examine the merits of tsedakah, the Jewish tradition of social justice through charitable works, and the role progressive Jews can play in public affairs and social policy. Abbie Gorin, a teacher, writer and Essex-Newark Legal Services attorney representing tenants and homeowners, will discuss tsedakah as interpreted by Jill Jacobs, executive director of Rabbis For Human Rights—North America, former rabbi-in-residence of Jewish Funds for Justice, and author of There Shall Be No Needy: Pursuing Social Justice Through Jewish Law and Tradition.

Hosted by progressive Jewish writer and scholar Bennett Muraskin, this free monthly session of the the Jewish Cultural School & Society's (JCSS) adult education series is open to all. Bring your friends!
