Latest Club News: High School Seniors Get Scholarships and More

Knights of Columbus, Mother Seton Council 5427, Washington Township:

The township's  recently held its annual awards night where they recognized four high school seniors.

Three students each received $1,000 in the James Picarella Memorial Scholarships, named after a Knight who died of cancer. Kaitlyn Fanala and Samantha Frazza of Westwood High School and Brianna Wiseman of Pascack Valley High School all received the scholarships. Fanala plans to attend the University of Delaware, Frazza is undecided on where to attend college and Wiseman will attend Emanuel College in Boston.

The organization also handed out the Mother Seton Council Scholarship, awarded each year in remembrance of deceased Knights of Council 5427. The recipient of that award was Caitlin Powers, who attends River Dell High School.

Saint Andrew's 50+ Club, Westwood:

The 50+ Club of in Westwood is planning a trip to Wildwood Sept. 18-21. The trip costs $275 per person, which includes transportation, food and visits to Cape May, Wildwood’s boardwalk and Atlantic City. For more information, call Hilda Gonzalez at 201-483-8424.

Pascack Valley Art Association, Washington Township:

The Pascack Valley Art Association will host Washington Township artist Thomas Valenti at its next meeting, scheduled for June 14 at 7:30 p.m. Valenti has lived in the township for 30 years and is best known for his New York street scenes. The meeting will be held in the Washington Township Municipal Complex, 350 Hudson Ave., and is open to the public. Call Anneliese at 201-391-5344 for more information.

Contemporary Woman's Club of Washington Township:

The Contemporary Woman's Club of Washington Township is currently made up of about 50 women, is open to all women ages 18 and older who live in the Pascack Valley area. Interested women should attend a club meeting, call the membership chair at 201-664-5443 or e-mail Womansclub@twpofwashington.us. Meetings are held the first Wednesday of each month from October to May.
