School District Field Project is Underway

Education officials gathered for the official groundbreaking Monday

Education officials gathered at the fields next to late Monday to recognize the start of the district project that will revamp the existing fields and create a stadium and turf field on the property.

Business Administrator Keith Rosado said the plan includes bleacher seating for 1,100 people plus a press box. There will also be a regulation track so the school can hold county meets, Rosado said. He explained that there will be drainage, irrigation and lights for all the fields.

In addition to the stadium and turf field on the side of the high school, there will be a grass field used for soccer and a baseball and field hockey field. The softball field will be in front of the high school.

Rosado said the project, which started this month, is "going well." He said the estimated completion date is Aug. 15, as long as the weather cooperates.

President Paul Liddy said the goal is to have the first scheduled home football game on the new facilities.

He said the project has been a long time coming and will help give the district an identity. "We can't be happier," Liddy said.
