Last year the Green Team, along with volunteers, cleaned up parts of the township using bags and various pick up devices provided by Bergen County Clean Communities. After that day, members filled out forms and submitted pictures to Clean Communities and were awarded a $300 grant for their efforts. The Green Team plans to use the money this year to plant soil holding type plants behind the retaining wall next to the firehouse on Washington Avenue.
The township is also working toward certification in the Sustainable Jersey program. Certification recognizes work New Jersey municipalities do to go green and allows access to grants and other funding opportunities.
