Twp of Washington Vol Ambulance Reach Out to High School Students

Corps visit students during to demonstrate their new ambulance, answer questions, and offer interested students an opportunity to sign up.

Members of the Township of Washington Volunteer Ambulance Corps recently made two lunch time out-reach visits to the Westwood Regional High School on October 25 and November 1, 2018. The Corps make these visits periodically in an effort to both educate the students on the emergency services and assist interested teenagers in joining the squad.

While there, personnel answered student questions as well as offering tours of the new state-of-the-art Township of Washington 2018 Horton Ambulance. A number of students came out and took advantage of the opportunity to see the new ambulance and speak with the Corps members.

The Corps set up their public relations station outside the school and any students who came out to speak learn more about the Corps and its operations all did so voluntarily during their lunch time.

Corpsmembers who participated both times included Lieutenant Justin G. Tsai, Recruitment Coordinator, EMR Joseph Conway, and Recruit Alexa Connelly. EMT Taylor-Anne Giblin assisted at the October 25 visit and Candidate EMT Lindsey Sirois assisted at the November 1st visit. Of note, both Recruit Connelly and Candidate Sirois are Westwood HS Juniors representing the Corps to their peers. Candidate Lindsey Sirois is currently enrolled in EMT Initial Training and is scheduled to graduate early Winter 2019.

The Corps extends its deepest appreciations to the Westwood High School faculty and administration, especially Dr. Heather Frank-Goffe, Assistant Principal for STEM/Health Sciences for their support and hospitality in helping the Corps organize it’s lunchtime visits as well as allowing the Corps to recruit at home football games.
