Upcoming Charity Basketball Tournament and More Club News

Knights of Columbus, Mother Seton Council 5427, Washington Township:

The township's , 79 Pascack Road, Washington Township, continues to host the Washington Township farmers market each Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The market includes fresh fruits and vegetables, breads, pies, pastries, fresh pasta and raviolis and pasta sauces. There is also handmade mozzarella, Italian cheeses, homemade dry and pork sausages. For more information about the farmers market and to view a schedule, click .

The Knights are also hosting a Three-on-Three Basketball Tournament and Family Picnic Saturday, Aug. 6 from 2:30 to 8 p.m. The event, held in the Picnic Grove of the Knights' facility, will serve as a fund-raiser for local non-profit programs that help autistic children and their families. Healing Arts Family Connection, which provides free art therapy sessions at the River Vale Community Center, will be on hand at the event to show off what they do and answer questions.

The cost of the event is $50 per person and $75 per family. For those who don't want to play basketball, but want to watch and eat the picnic fare, the cost is $20 per person or $35 per family, parents and children under 21. If there is heavy rain, the event will take place Sunday, Aug. 7.

Auxiliary of Westwood American Legion Post 206:

The Auxiliary of Westwood is sponsoring a trip to the Resorts Casino in Atlantic City Thursday, July 29. The bus is scheduled to leave the American Legion parking lot, at 264 Washington Ave., at 8:15 a.m. The cost is $35 per person with $22 in slot play from the casino. Reservations were due by July 19. Westwood Elks:

The have their eighth annual Blue Fish Trip scheduled for Sept. 9. A bus is scheduled to leave the Elks parking lot, 523 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood, at 5 a.m. that Friday to arrive in Belmar at 6:30 a.m. The scheduled return is at 3:30 p.m. The trip costs $140 per person and reservations are being accepted on a first come, first served basis. The Elks' 15th Annual Golf Tournament Sept. 26 at Apple Greens Golf Course in Highland, N.Y. The bus will leave the lodge, 523 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood, at 7:30 a.m. that Monday. The shotgun start to the tournament is at 9:30 a.m. The cost for the entire event is $120, which includes greens fees, golf cart, busing, box lunch, dinner and beverages. Dinner only costs $20. Hole sponsorships are $25 and boosters are $5. Money from the event will go toward charities the Elks support.

St. Thomas More Knights of Columbus, Westwood:

Members of the , 40 Crest St., Westwood, are scheduled to have their next general meeting Thursday, Aug. 4 from 8 to 9 p.m. A Spectrum Canteen is set for Monday, Aug. 8 from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Saint Andrew's 50+ Club, Westwood:

The 50+ Club of in Westwood is planning a trip to Wildwood Sept. 18-21. The trip costs $275 per person, which includes transportation, food and visits to Cape May, Wildwood’s boardwalk and Atlantic City. For more information, call Hilda Gonzalez at 201-483-8424.

Contemporary Woman's Club of Washington Township:

The Contemporary Woman's Club of Washington Township is currently made up of about 50 women, is open to all women ages 18 and older who live in the Pascack Valley area. Interested women should attend a club meeting, call the membership chair at 201-664-5443 or e-mail Womansclub@twpofwashington.us. Meetings are held the first Wednesday of each month from October to May.
