The left lane is open on Route 1 in Edison after a tractor-trailer truck crashed into a pole early Wednesday, according to state transportation officials. Traffic was backed up for miles on the southbound side of the roadway.

Another accident has created backups on the Garden State Parkway going south in the area of Exit 132 in Clark, according to state transportation officials.

A man was killed Monday in Monroe Township after the dump truck he was driving on Rt. 522 (Buckelew Avenue) flipped over, according to Monroe Township police.

The accident occurred just before 11:30 a.m. on Rt. 522 near Etsch Farms, a popular farm known statewide for its famous corn maze.

The accidents happened just as another fatal accident was reported on a notoriously deadly highway, which killed two - including a state trooper who just married - in a head-on crash on Monday night.

Lloyd Rudley, 61, a psychiatrist from Elmer has been identified as the driver of the Toyota Corolla that crossed the grass median and struck Trooper Frankie Williams head-on, killing himself and the trooper.

Rudley's car matched witness descriptions of a vehicle that was driving erratically in the area. Williams was responding to the erratic driver complaint at the time of the crash, police said.
