Audio Insight Rocks Bamboozle For the Second Consecutive Year

For the , Woodbridge-based rocked the Bamboozle Festival.

Playing to a group of dedicated fans as well as a group of passers-by that steadily grew as they played on, the band played a blistering set at the Saints & Sinners Stage (Bamboozle’s metal-heavy side stage), tearing through a half-hour of tracks from their debut album Dimensions, released in late 2010.

“We’re really excited,” said singer/guitarist Anthony Celi about returning to Bamboozle, held for the first time in five years in Asbury Park.  “Since the last time we’ve played, we’ve been doing some regional touring – Pennsylvania, New York.  We went out to Minnesota and played at the Mall of America, New York (City).”

When Audio Insight were invited to play the Bamboozle in 2011 following the Break competition, they were slotted into a Friday evening performance at the festival’s old stomping grounds at the Meadowlands.  This year, they were picked to play the same day as rock legends the Foo Fighters and New Jersey favorites My Chemical Romance, mere feet from the Asbury Park beach.

So besides the obvious change in locale and scope (Saturdays are traditionally more heavily attended than Fridays at Bamboozle), what else has changed for the band since they last played the festival?

“We’re a lot more comfortable on stage,” said drummer Dan Sullivan.

“Everything’s more comfortable and chill,” added Celi.  “Everything seems so natural.”

After a hard-rocking mid-day set at a festival like Bamboozle, it’s natural for bands playing the show to want to check out other artists (and grab some free food in the artists’ area, naturally).  So who were the guys in Audio Insight most looking forward to checking out Saturday evening?

“Foo Fighters,” said Sullivan, without hesitation.

“I’m excited to see Periphery, this really cool progressive metal band,” added Celi.

“Foo Fighters, Motion City Soundtrack, My Chemical Romance, We Came As Romans,” said bassist Mike Deverin.

With their second set at Bamboozle now a memory, the band is hitting the road once again before working on their follow-up to Dimensions.  The Woodbridge boys will play the Livingston Love-In Festival on Friday (May 25^th) and the Rise Records Tour date at The Chill in Montclair on Saturday (May 26^th).

“We’re planning on doing some touring this summer, some east coast stuff,” said Celi.  “We’re in the writing process now, so after that I’d say 2013, expect some new stuff from us.”
