Blizzard In Woodbridge: 17 Inches Of Snow, Hundreds Without Power

WOODBRIDGE, NJ — A relentless late-winter blizzard has not let up its assault on New Jersey, dumping 17 inches of snow so far in Woodbridge and leaving more than 300 people without electricity, according to PSE&G's outage map Monday morning.

Clean-up will take days, towns across the state are telling residents.

Woodbridge Police did not have to respond to any notable or significant snow rescues Sunday night, said Police Director Joseph Nisky.

But in Metuchen, falling trees took down power lines across multiple neighborhoods, leaving approximately 250 homes without electricity. Mayor Jonathan Busch said the hardest-hit area is around Rose Street, with additional outages reported on Aldrich Street and in several locations along Spring Street. In Edison, Mayor Joshi said some residents may wake up to find wires, trees or large branches on their homes.

The statewide New Jersey travel ban has been extended to noon Monday, which means it is illegal to be on any road in the state, except for the NJ Turnpike. All 21 New Jersey counties remain under a blizzard warning through 6 p.m. Monday. According to National Weather Service Mount Holly, the amount of snow forecasted is 20-24".

"This is a very serious storm and I urge all residents to stay inside and stay safe," said Gov. Mikie Sherrill.

  • Perth Amboy: 20.0 in.
  • 2 ENE Concordia: 18.5 in.
  • Metuchen: 17.7 in.
  • 1 SW Cranbury: 17.0 in.
  • Woodbridge: 17.0 in.
  • Woodbridge 1 ESE: 17.0 in.
  • South River: 15.5 in.
  • North Brunswick Twp. 1.5 W: 15.3 in.
  • Plainsboro Township: 15.0 in.
  • North Brunswick: 14.9 in.
  • Woodbridge Twp. 1 NNE: 13.0 in.
  • 1 SW Edison: 11.8 in.
  • 1 SW Piscataway: 11.1 in
