Colonia Man Pleads Not Guilty in Ex-Wife's Murder

Her family members wore purple, to represent domestic violence, at her funeral. Her ex-husband pleaded not guilty Thursday.

Colonia, NJ - A Woodbridge man accused of killing his wife entered a plea of not guilty Thursday in Middlesex County Superior Court, MyCentralJersey.com reported.

Giorgina Nigro, 32, was found dead in her Devon Road home in the Colonia section of Woodbridge on the morning of July 22, 2015. Vito Nigro, 42, who was her ex-husband at the time, was charged with her murder. She was killed by blunt force and sharp force trauma, authorities said, possibly while she was sleeping.

The type of weapon used to kill the woman has not been revealed by police.

The couple was divorced, but they were living in the same home because they had three young children, 4- and 6-year-old girls, and a 9-year-old boy. They used to both work together as hair stylists at European Hair Design in South Plainfield, owned by Nigro's mother, Pasqualina Nigro. His mother was in court Thursday to support him.
