Five Things: Holiday Dances and Carriage Rides

  1. The Grinch Who Stole Christmas is on at the in Rahway. Elite Starz presents a play based on the book by Dr. Suess playShowings are Friday, Dec. 16, at 7 pm; Saturday, Dec. 17, at 7 pm, and Sunday, Dec. 18,  at 3 pm.  Tickets $20 in advance, $25 at door. For more info, call 732-499-8226.
  2. Go to a Holiday Dinner Dance this weekend. The in Iselin is hosting a on Saturday, Dec. 17 from 7 pm to 11 pm. The cost is $25 per person which includes a buffet dinner plus choice of beer, wine or soda. There will also be a cash bar for liquor and mixed drinks.   3. Take a trip to New Brunswick for a horse-drawn carriage ride. It's fun and free. Explore the along with a historian docent and enjoy the sights and sounds of downtown New Brunswick during the holiday season. Go to the Hyatt Regency-New Brunswick or the Heldrich Hotel to be picked up. Rides start at 6 pm.
  4. The Barron Arts Center is hosting the Great Train Exhibit. The phenomenal set up runs through Dec. 29. Hours are weekdays from 11 am to 4 pm and weekends from 2 pm to 4 pm. Admission is free, but donations are welcome. For more info, call 732-634-0413.
  5. Take in an art show. 's works are on display at LightSoundSpace at 1591 Irving Street in Rahway. Feld's exhibition features representational landscapes, still-life oil paintings, and abstract compositions among other media, and the exhibit runs through Dec. 23. Admission is free.
