Fourth Of July Fireworks Celebration In Woodbridge
The annual Woodbridge Township Independence Day celebration and fireworks display will be held Thursday; police issued a traffic advisory.

The annual Woodbridge Township Independence Day celebration and fireworks display will be held Thursday at Alvin P. Williams Memorial Park on the waterfront in the Sewaren section of town.
“We are extremely excited to announce that Woodbridge Township is again hosting one of the largest Independence Day fireworks display and entertainment events in the state,” Mayor John E. McCormac said in a prepared statement. “Woodbridge Township is home to military personnel currently serving overseas and to military veterans who served and protected America’s freedom and democracy in conflicts around the world - it is to those brave military personnel and veterans that we dedicate this year’s Independence Day celebration. This year, Woodbridge Township will offer a special salute and recognition to our Veterans of the Korean War.”

Festivities begin at 6 p.m., with live music by The Time Machine, followed by the Kaboom!! “Bringing the Night to Life” fireworks display, choreographed to music.
Thousands of people are expected to attend the event. Gates open at 4 p.m. Lawn chairs, blankets and picnics are encouraged. No alcoholic beverages are permitted in the park.

Police have also issued a traffic alert about the event:
At the conclusion of the fireworks display, all traffic exiting Sewaren via Ferry Street (near Moby Dick’s) must make a left turn onto State Street. Right turns onto West Avenue towards Woodbridge will not be permitted.
State Street traffic into Perth Amboy will be also prohibited from turning right onto Maurer Road, which separates the Chevron property. Traffic will be diverted down West Avenue/State Street onto Route 440, to Amboy Avenue, back into Woodbridge.
