Husband, Wife Identified In Woodbridge Murder/Suicide, Police Say

WOODBRIDGE, NJ — The husband and wife killed in what police say was a murder-suicide in Woodbridge Wednesday have been identified as wife Lynn Jasper, 69, of Fords and her husband James Jasper, 66.

According to the Middlesex County prosecutor, the husband fatally shot his wife several times in the front yard of their home, and then turned the gun on himself, killing himself.

At 4:37 p.m. Thursday, Woodbridge Police officers responded to a 911 call of an unresponsive woman lying on the front lawn in front of the couple's home on Soren Street.

It was determined that she had suffered multiple gunshot wounds, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Woodbridge police, along with multiple other law enforcement agencies, tried to see if anyone else was still inside the home, which resulted in witnesses saying they saw a large police presence and what looked like a police standoff outside the Fords home Wednesday afternoon.

However, inside the home, police found the body of James Jasper, located deceased with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

"This investigation is active and being investigated as a murder/suicide," read a press release from Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone.
