NEW JERSEY — One of the two American journalists attacked in Ukraine Sunday by Russian forces is from New Jersey.

The reporter originally from New Jersey is Juan Arredondo. He was injured in the shooting, but not killed. However, another reporter he was riding with, video journalist Brent Renaud, was killed. Ukrainian authorities say their car was either shot at or shelled by Russian troops. Arredondo said they were shot.

Renaud is originally from Little Rock, Arkansas. He was shot in the neck and died Sunday. He worked for the New York Times and Time magazine.

Arredondo posted this video to social media where he describes how the car he and Renaud were in was shot at by Russian forces.

"We were going to film other refugees leaving and we crossed the checkpoint and they started shooting at us," said Arredondo while being bandaged and treated from a hospital bed. "The driver turned around and they kept shooting. It's two of us; my friend is Brent, he's been shot and left behind. I don't know (how he is). I saw him being shot in the neck. We got split."
