It’s Grab & Go Kids Planner time! Stuck for ideas to entertain the kids this weekend? We’ve got you covered!
This week there’s lots of nature – from Bear Awareness Day to a bug workshop to Mammal Mania! We’ve also got plays for the young ones, an art workshop, and the Woodbridge Street Fair & Craft Show! There’s lots to do outdoors this weekend (and indoors as well, if the weather decides not to cooperate), so grab the kids and get going!

- Drop-In Art and Science Workshops at Newark Museum; 49 Washington St., Newark; 973-596-6550; Price: Free with museum admission; Saturday, 1-4 PM
“Give Peace a Chance” and “What’s Bugging You?” are the themes for this month’s Drop-In Art and Science Workshops at the Newark Museum. Kids will have the opportunity to create a traditional Tibetan prayer flag to bring wishes of peace and happiness to your home in the Art Workshop. In the Science Workshop, learn about insects – how they’re bodies are built, the way they see the world, and more.

Turtleback Zoo hosts Bear Awareness Day Saturday afternoon. Celebrate with the zoo’s two American Black Bears, Jelly and Jam, while learning about the different types of bears from all around the world. And while you’re at the zoo, there’s always time to check out all of the other creatures and exhibits as well!

Storybook tales come to life at the Paper Mill Playhouse in Millburn. Short acts including Duck For President and Fancy Nancy (among others) will be performed in plays specifically geared towards the little ones (ages 3-12) in Paper Mill’s Children’s Theater series.

Take a tour through Hansen Park in Cranford Saturday morning, learning all about the mammals that call the park home. A presentation and guided walk through the park will all families to look for animal tracks, homes, and hideouts throughout the park. A wonderful educational experience and a chance to get out and spend a morning in the park!

We had one up in Westfield a few weeks ago, but you know summer’s just around the bend when the street fairs start happening throughout New Jersey. Woodbridge’s annual spring street fair & craft show sets up shop this Saturday in the downtown area (consider this both a Grab & Go Kids Planner idea and a traffic warning!) Crafts, food, entertainment, and retail vendors will take over Main Street Saturday afternoon. Be sure to head out, pick up some fair food, and check out the wares!
