State Police Save Suicidal Man On Edge Of Driscoll Bridge
State Police announced Tuesday they saved the life of a suicidal man who was standing on the edge of the Driscoll Bridge last month.

SOUTH AMBOY, NJ — New Jersey State Police announced Tuesday morning that they saved the life of a possibly suicidal man who was standing on the edge of the Driscoll Bridge.
The incident happened on Sunday, July 14. The Driscoll Bridge spans the mouth of the Raritan River, connecting Woodbridge Township with South Amboy; it carries the 15-lane Garden State Parkway over the mouth of the Raritan.
On the morning of July 14, troopers responded to a 911 call on the Driscoll Bridge southbound, for a call of a man, 45, standing on the shoulder in front of his car looking over the edge of the bridge.

He quickly pulled the man from the edge of the bridge and escorted him to his troop car.
A short time later, Woodbridge EMS arrived on scene and transported the man to an area hospital for further treatment.
Tragically, the 135-foot-high Driscoll Bridge has seen a number of suicides. In 2016, as Patch reported, a man and a woman jumped to their deaths off the bridge in two separate incidents.
Anyone contemplating suicide is asked to call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 800-273-8255.
