'American Idol' Alum Due In Court Today On Assault Charge: Reports

Constantine Maroulis is also scheduled to appear in court Wednesday in connection with violating a restraining order, reports say.

‘American Idol’ alumnus Constantine Maroulis is due in Bergen County Superior Court today on a case where Maroulis allegedly assaulted the mother of his child, Fox News reported.

Maroulis is also due to appear in court Wednesday in connection with allegedly violating a restraining order against him in connection with the mother, Angel Reed.

Additionally, Maroulis is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday in connection with the violation of the restraining order.

The former ”American Idol” star, who was arrested earlier this month after a fight allegedly broke out between himself and Reed. Maroulis also allegedly e-mailed Reed recently, which violates a restraining order prohibiting any contact with her, TMZ reported.

The e-mail was allegedly supposed to go to Maroulis’ lawyers, but, according to TMZ, Reed was accidently copied on the e-mail.

The alleged fight broke out between Reed and Maroulis over Maroulis’ plan to allegedly leave Reed.

Reed’s attorney, Steve Mandel, told People.com that the initial argument started when Reed confronted Maroulis with photos and e-mails she found that proved he was continuing an affair with a married mother of a child at their daughter’s school.”

According to Mandel, Maroulis allegedly “flew into a rage, grabbed her by her hair and threw her violently to the floor” and kicked Reed twice in the groin. Maroulis said he acted in self-defense

Reports said Maroulis was injured on his right thigh during the fight when Reed threw something at him.

Maroulis placed sixth on the sixth season of “American Idol.” He starred in the Broadway musical “Rock of Ages” as Drew and was nominated for a Tony Award for the role. He remains out on bail.
