Bergen County Releases Mobile Testing Numbers; Nearly 40K Tested
Over 38,000 total tests were administered as the mobile testing initiative traveled across the county between May and July.
BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — The Bergen County mobile testing initiative has been paused for the summer, but yesterday, Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco shared what the county effort accomplished.
Through the partnership between the county and Bergen New Bridge Medical Center, 38,457 total tests were administered to Bergen County residents in May, June and July.
The cumulative total includes 29,334 saliva tests and 9,123 antibody tests, according to county data.

According to county numbers, staff and volunteers worked a total of 22,500 hours during the initiative, which held mobile testing days at 41 locations over 11 weeks.
Though the effort is going away temporarily, it's expected to pick back up in September, according to Tedesco.

"The Community COVID-19 Mobile Testing Program has paused operations for the summer and will ramp up again in early September," he said.
This data comes as Gov. Phil Murphy announced restrictions to the state's reopening efforts as he limited indoor gatherings to 25 people.

As of Monday at 1 p.m., the New Jersey Department of Health reported 22 new positive coronavirus cases and 255 probable deaths in the county, bringing totals to 20,552 confirmed cases and 1,786 confirmed deaths.
