Christian Health Care Center Employee Elected to Board of Visiting Homemaker Home Health Aide Service of Bergen County

Mahwah resident Marita Drivanos, RN, BA, a Clinical Educator at The David F. Bolger Post-acute-Care Unit at Christian Health Care Center (CHCC) in Wyckoff, has been elected to serve on the Visiting Homemaker Home Health Aide Service of Bergen County Inc. Board of Trustees. She is responsible for providing clinical expertise and is a member of both the fund-raising and marketing committees. Ms. Drivanos has a long career in the nursing field, having served as a pediatric nurse for 17 years before joining CHCC.

Visiting Homemaker is already close to Ms. Drivanos’s heart, having provided home-health-aide care for her ailing father-in-law in the past. This organization offers a variety of programs and services such as meal preparation, live-in care, medication reminders, and respite care. The main goal of the organization is to provide in- home/community services for those who need assistance, in order to help prevent the disruption of family life, foster independence, and maintain dignity. She stated that “I would like 2014 to be a year of giving back, and I am, extremely honored and excited to be a part of such a philanthropic organization.”

            As a clinical educator, Ms. Drivanos is responsible for all nurse education in the post-acute care unit. She is an educator with extensive acute-care experience. She works with staff nurses to provide orientation, and continuing education and support, which is ultimately for patients who are being admitted from the hospital with acute conditions.

            “Marita is a real hands-on educator and is always available to our nurses for training and additional education when necessary,” said Nancy Mericle, RN, Heritage Manor Nursing Home/Southgate Nursing Services Director. “The nurses on the unit know that they can reach out to her for support and she will always be there for them.”
