Fishing Derby; Memorial Day Closures Announced

News from the Township Administrator's office.

For those looking to scratch that fishing itch the township recently announced some news you'll appreciate.  The Wyckoff Environmental Commission is sponsoring its 29th Annual Fishing Derby for youths 14 and younger.

A catch and release event, it's being requested that participating parties use barbless hooks in an effort to cause the least distress to the fish. A barbless hook is one that does not have downward points (barbs) on the “J” shape of the hook.

According to the township administrators office the derby typically brings out nearly 200 anglers along with their parents or grandparents for a morning of fishing. Registration will begin at 8:45 a.m. and the fishing will start at 9 a.m. Prizes will be awarded in three age categories around 10:15 a.m.  Members of the Environmental Commission will be on hand to measure your catch.
