Former Ramapo High School Football Player Is Now A Hall Of Famer
Matthew Ambrose was inducted into the National Football Foundation College Hall of Fame. He was a standout linebacker in college.
WYCKOFF, NJ - Matthew Ambrose, a former Ramapo High School football star, was inducted into the National Football Foundation and College Football Hall of Fame recently.
The hall’s scholar athlete award is given to those who show outstanding academic application and performance, exemplary leadership and citizenship, and superior football performance.
Ambrose was sworn in as a scholar-athlete. He is a senior at the State University of New York Cortland. He is a 2012 graduate of Ramapo High School.

“To be recognized for my accomplishments on the field and in the classroom is a great honor to me and my family and one that I will cherish forever,” said Ambrose. “What I learned at Ramapo allowed me to achieve the success I have enjoyed at Cortland.”
Ambrose acknowledged his first football coaches in the Wyckoff Recreation Football program: Pat O’Hagan and Jim Gallagher.

As a student, Ambrose maintained a grade point average of 3.35 as an exercise science major and was named to the conference All-Academic Team three times.
Ambrose racked up 262 tackles, six sacks, 14 tackles for a loss, two interceptions, four forced fumbles, recovered four fumbles, and scored a touchdown.
Ambrose will pursue a career as a strength and conditioning coach.
