Phil Simms To Receive Honorary Doctorate From Morehead State May 9
Franklin Lakes resident won two NFL championships with the New York Giants and was named MVP of Super Bowl XXI.

Phil Simms, two-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback with the New York Giants and Franklin Lakes resident, will receive an honorary doctorate from Morehead State University May 9.
Simms will receive an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters at his alma mater’s spring commencement ceremony.
Simms was the Ohio Valley Conference’s Offensive Player of the year in 1977. The Giants selected him in the first round of the 1979 NFL Draft.

Simms played 15 years in the NFL and won two Super Bowls. He completed 22 of 25 passes in Super Bowl XXI and was named the game’s MVP.
The Giants and Morehead State have retired Simms’ numbers 11 and 12, respectively.

Simms has been the lead analyst for CBS Television Network’s coverage of the NFL since joining the network in 1998. He and his wife, Diana, have three children, Christopher, Matthew, and Deirdre.
