Register for Wyckoff Rec Sports This Weekend

Wyckoff is already preparing for its winter sports season, and kids who want to play rec basketball, wrestling or roller hockey can register for those programs this weekend.

According to an email blast sent out by the township’s Department of Recreation and Parks, registration for winter sports programs will be held this Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon and next Tuesday, September 21 from 7:30 to 9 p.m. in the Eisenhower cafeteria.

Any potential coaches who have not yet completed the Wyckoff Background Check can also complete that program at the two sign-up events.

The email detailed the programs available to Wyckoff kids and adults:

• The wide range of basketball activities available include recreation basketball leagues for boys and girls in Grades 3/4, 5/6 and 7/8, and a high school league.  And for the second year, 1st & 2nd graders will be able to participate in our 1st/2nd Grade Basketball Program! The registration fee for 1st through 4th grades is $60 and for 5th-8th grade, the fee is $80. Please note that 3rd and 4th grade boys and girls will play games on Saturday mornings from December through early March and our 1st and 2nd graders will play on Saturday afternoons in January and February.
• In addition to our elementary and middle school basketball programs, local high school boys can also join our High School Basketball League, which takes place on Monday nights from December through March. The registration fee for this program is $85.
• Our popular adult open gym program will begin on Thursday, December 5th, at Eisenhower School with pre-registration during the above dates required.  Space in this program is limited to the first 100 Wyckoff residents who register on a first come, first served basis. Participants have the option of joining in our regular 14-week season for a fee of $65 or joining the extended season which ends on May 22 for a fee of $100.
• Besides the extensive basketball programs, Wyckoff Recreation also offers our very successful Wrestling program for Grades 2-8 which runs from November through February. The registration fee for this program is $80.
• Finally, our very popular Roller Hockey Program will be accepting registrations on the dates above. Children in grades 2&3 will learn the game in our fun Roller Hockey Clinic on Monday nights and weekend afternoons from December through February and children in grades 4-12 (ages 9-17) will participate on our Wyckoff teams in the North Jersey Youth Roller Hockey League. Practices will begin in November and continue with games through mid-March. The fees for this program are $60 for 2nd and 3rd graders and $80 for grades 4-12.
