State Of Emergency Declared In Bergen County

18 to 24 inches of snow is forecast to blanket North Jersey.

BERGEN COUNTY, N.J. — County Executive James Tedesco declared a state of emergency Monday afternoon ahead of the snowstorm that hit North Jersey late Monday night.

Between 18 and 24 inches of snow is forecast to blanket Bergen County, the National Weather Service said. Ten to 14 inches of snow is possible tuesday, with wind gusts as high as 36 mph.

The heavy snow will make many roads impassable and may produce widespread power outages due to the weight of the snow on tree limbs and power lines.
