Temple Beth Rishon to Celebrate 9th Annual Mitzvah Day on Sunday
Event honors former member Murray "Muz" Prawer.
Temple Beth Rishon, located at 585 Russell Avenue, will celebrate its 9th Annual Mitzvah Day on Sunday at 10:00 a.m. The day, said Ellen Csaki, VP Membership and Activities, will benefit the Emmanuel Cancer Foundation.
Each year the Temple selects a different charitable foundation to benefit in memory of Murray “Muz” Prawer, a longtime member of the Temple until his death in 2002.
"He was a very spiritual man and was a dedicated congregant," said Csaki. "Murray served in many volunteer positions here so we wanted to chose something in his memory that reflected his personality." Csaki said past charities the event has benefited has included Autism Speaks, Gilda's Club and The Lung Cancer Alliance.
