TikTok Challenge Hasn't Prompted Threats In Wyckoff, Police Say
Police officials aren't aware of any threats against schools in Wyckoff, but, as always, "treat every threat seriously."
WYCKOFF, NJ — A social media challenge has prompted increased police awareness around school buildings across the country, but officials in Wyckoff say no specific threat has been made toward local schools.
The national trend appears to have originated on TikTok, and multiple law enforcement agencies across the country say they are monitoring reports of the challenge, which has encouraged students to threaten gun violence at their schools on Friday.

"It has come to the attention of local law enforcement officials and school administrators, that social media posts(Tik Tok)are in circulation nationwide," Wyckoff police said.

"The language in these posts, reference a nonspecific threat of school shootings nationwide with no location information or specific facility on December 17th."
Local police were in contact with the Bergen County Prosecutors Office BCPO and the New Jersey Regional Operations Intelligence Center (ROIC), and determined that there is no specific threat in Wyckoff. Still, they aren't ignoring the trend entirely.

"With that said, Wyckoff Police treat every threat seriously," police said, adding that they will maintain a "highly visible presence" at schools on Friday.
"Our primary concern is the safety of our students and the school staff within."
