Wyckoff GOP Candidate's Motion To Stop Ballot Printing Denied
Independent candidate Thomas Madigan will appear on the November ballot.

Thomas Madigan will appear on the Wyckoff November ballot.
State Superior Court Judge Mitchel Ostrer denied Republican candidate Susan Yudin’s emergent motion to prevent the county from printing the election ballots. Ballots are scheduled to be printed Saturday.
Ostrer also denied relief to send the case to the appellate division.

“Hopefully, this will end the desperate attempt by Mrs. Yudin and her husband, Bergen County Republican Party Chairman Bob Yudin — that she has a right to run uncontested in November and that the voeters of Wyckoff should be denied a choice of committee candidates,” Madigan said. “The opinion by the appellate judges is a triumph for voter choice and competitive elections. Let’s move on with the campaign, let’s debate issues, and let the voters decide the election, not political bosses.”
Yudin, a Republican candidate, filed an appeal after Judge Estela De La Cruz validated Madigan’s candidacy Aug. 4. Yudin argued that Madigan had not witnessed three of the 194 signatures on the petition, making the petition invalid. Mayor Kevin Rooney is the other Republican running.

De La Cruz also said that Yudin did not “provide any legal authority to support her contention that Madigan should be denied the opportunity to run as an independent for the second township council seat.”
Yudin did not respond to an e-mail seeking comment Monday.
