Wyckoff High School Student Named National Merit Semifinalist

Jackson B. Min is one of 16,000 semifinalists vying for a National Merit Scholarship.

Jackson B. Min, a student who lives in Wyckoff, has been named National Merit Scholarship semifinalist. Min is homeschooled.

About 16,000 high school students nationwide have earned semifinalist status. They include the highest scoring Preliminary SAT takers in each state. They qualified for the 2016 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the PSAT.

About 15,000 of the semifinalists are expected to advance to the finalist level to earn one of 2,500 National Merit Scholarships for $2,500 each.

To become a finalist, a semifinalist must submit an application, write an essay, and have an outstanding academic record, among other requirements.

About 1,000 corporate-sponsored Merit Scholarships will also be awarded.

National Merit Scholarship recipients will be announced between April and July in 2016.
