Wyckoff Man Hurt In House Fire Resigns From Superintendent Post: Report

David M. Browne was injured in a fire at his Wyckoff home earlier this month.

The Wyckoff man who was injured in a fire at his home has resigned from his position as superintendent of the Randolph School District, effective today, the district announced Monday.

David M. Browne was found burned and lying on the ground outside his Wyckoff Avenue home Oct. 13. Police said the detached garage was “fully engulfed in flames.”

Browne was placed on administrative leave hours after he was injured in the fire. The garage’s content was destroyed. Browne was burned and suffered what Chief Benjamin Fox believed were non-life-threatening injuries.

A special meeting Monday, the Randolph Board of Education voted unanimously to name Jennifer A. Fano as interim superintendent, said Tammy MacKay, board president. Fano will also continue as the district’s assistant superintendent.
