1. La Curva Apartments development on Route 66 vacant lot seeks tax break from city (krqe.com) — A 70-unit La Curva apartment project on Central near the river in Albuquerque is moving forward and seeking a 14-year property tax abatement worth about $2.4 million. The plan targets workforce housing for residents earning 80–120% of area median income and now heads to City Council, where its approval could spur more redevelopment between Old Town and the BioPark.

2. Albuquerque City Council to revisit overnight shelter permit near airport (kob.com) — Albuquerque city councilors are preparing to again debate whether an overnight shelter near the airport should keep its permit after nearby residents and the Commission for the Blind raised safety concerns about trash, drugs and hazards along Yale Boulevard. The shelter operator says it has boosted fencing, cameras and security, and the council's upcoming vote could determine the shelter's future operations in that corridor.

3. Could a new campus near Sandia National Laboratories keep young talent in New Mexico? (abqjournal.com subscription) — A proposed advanced manufacturing campus on surplus Albuquerque Public Schools land in the Sandia Science & Technology Park could give local students direct pathways into high-paying tech and energy careers. Backed by CNM, APS, and Sandia partners, the multi-building CAMINO Collaborative project aims to keep young people in Albuquerque while attracting companies like Pacific Fusion and Mantis Space.

4. DA Bregman to release dashboard on repeat criminal stats with stats by judge (kob.com) — Bernalillo County DA Sam Bregman, speaking at a Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce meeting, says his office will launch a public dashboard within a week showing which judges detain or release repeat offenders and how often released suspects reoffend. The move comes amid long-running concerns in Albuquerque about a "revolving door" justice system and inconsistent pretrial detention decisions in serious local cases.

5. After parting ways with Flock, BCSO turns to new surveillance provider (abqjournal.com subscription) — Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office, which serves much of the Albuquerque metro, is switching its license plate reader system from Flock Safety to Axon, aiming to launch it by year's end. Local agencies including Albuquerque Police already use Axon, and BCSO says the new system will give it tighter control over how long data is stored, who can access it, and how each search is tracked and justified.
