🌱 Self-Defense Shooting + Man Robs 2 Banks In 15 Minutes

Good morning, Albuquerque! It's Wednesday, so let's get you started with everything you need to know going on in town today.


First, today's weather:

Here are the top stories in Albuquerque today:

  1. Albuquerque police determined a Monday night shooting was a justifiable homicide. Detectives arrived and, after interviewing witnesses, determined 46-year-old James Lawrence shot 40-year-old Francisco Fonseca in self-defense, as Fonseca attacked him with a blunt object. Fonseca succumbed to the gunshot wound. Lawrence will not be charged for the shooting. (KOB)
  2. The FBI says a man is believed to have robbed two Wells Fargo bank branches in Albuquerque within about 15 minutes Monday. The robber is also suspected of four other Albuquerque bank robberies in September and October. According to the FBI, the suspect is described as white, in his 30s, approximately 5-foot-9-inches tall and 160 pounds, with black hair and a thin build. (KOB)
  3. The Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office says an 18-year old armed with an "AR-15 style pistol" and carrying a backpack full of guns was shot and killed by a deputy last month, following a hit and run crash in the North Valley. (KRQE)
  4. There is a final opportunity for the community to review and comment on proposed changes to political boundaries within the county ahead of the Bernalillo County Commission's vote on Dec. 14. (KRQE)
  5. One person has died, and two others are seriously injured after a major crash took place Sunday evening in northwest Albuquerque. (KOAT)
