• R4Creating hosts HS self-driving race car challenge (rrobserver.com subscription) — Rio Rancho’s R4Creating center just wrapped up a hands-on self-driving race car challenge, where high school students from across New Mexico tested AI-powered robotic cars they’d been training for 10 weeks. Guided virtually by New Mexico Artificial Intelligence Academy instructors, teens collected track data, built neural-network “drivers,” and troubleshot real-world glitches like carpeted floors. Organizers hope the program turns local students into confident AI creators, not just users.
   

• Rio Rancho Public Schools joins California social media lawsuit (koat.com) — Rio Rancho Public Schools has joined a major lawsuit against Meta, TikTok, Snapchat’s parent company, and Google, alleging their platforms contribute to adolescent addiction and create a public nuisance. Representing about 17,000 students across roughly 20 schools, the district is seeking a jury trial and claims the companies were negligent in how their social media products affect young people.
   

• Sandoval County ethics ordinance change to streamline process, remove anonymity - The Paper. in Rio Rancho (riorancho.news) — Sandoval County commissioners are set to consider changes to the county ethics ordinance Wednesday evening, a move that could affect how complaints about local officials, including those serving Rio Rancho, are handled and disclosed. The proposal would route complaints through a contract compliance officer, require sworn and signed filings, and make all complaints and decisions public records, with final approval expected in June.
