Ruidoso residents advised to prepare for evacuations due to landslide risk (ground.news) — People living in Ruidoso's Upper Canyon, especially beyond Main Road and Fox Drive, are under a SET voluntary evacuation status because heavy rain has raised the risk of landslides. Village officials urge residents to be ready to leave quickly and pay close attention to emergency alerts while conditions remain unstable.

Village of Ruidoso Insider – Volume 62: October 2026 — Village of Ruidoso Municipal Government (ruidoso-nm.gov) — Ruidoso residents get a packed October, from AspenFest and Midtown Halloween to the XTERRA World Championship and the New Mexico Outdoor Economics Conference at the convention center. 3. Dangerous Flood Emergency Issued for Multiple Counties Across New Mexico and Arizona as Conditions Worsen (travelinglifestyle.net) — Ruidoso and nearby communities are under a life-threatening flash flood warning as heavy rain hits the South Fork and McBride burn scars, raising the risk of debris flows in local canyons and creeks. Residents in Upper Canyon, Brady Canyon, Perk Canyon, and along Rio Ruidoso are urged to move to higher ground and avoid flooded roads as storms continue across southern New Mexico and Arizona.
   

4. Remnants of Hurricane Polo impacting multiple areas across New Mexico (krqe.com) — Remnants of Hurricane Polo are drenching New Mexico, and Ruidoso has already seen two to three inches of rain, putting residents—especially in Upper Canyon—under a voluntary "set" evacuation status. Local officials, backed by National Guard and rescue teams, are preparing for potential landslides while other communities like Albuquerque and Clovis battle flooding.
