• Schenectady, Saratoga sales tax collection increases most in Capital Region (dailygazette.com) — Albany County's sales tax growth is running close behind Schenectady and Greene, as new state data show Schenectady and Saratoga leading the Capital Region in early 2026 collections. The report stresses that higher sales tax largely reflects inflation, especially fuel costs, while counties lean more on sales tax to ease property-tax pressure on residents. 
• 2 sentenced in connection to Rensselaerville shooting (news10.com) — Albany County prosecutors say two men have been sentenced for a 2025 roadside shooting that left a Berne woman wounded after a dispute involving her son. One defendant received probation, while the alleged shooter got five years in prison plus supervision, following an investigation by the Albany County Sheriff's Office that traced them to Massachusetts.
• MATTER OF BEWSHER, 178 A.D. 381 (N.Y. App. Div. 1917) (justia.com) — An early 1900s Albany estate dispute shows how a local charitable institution on Clinton Avenue, the Albany Guardian Society and Home for the Friendless, ultimately lost out on a trust because of strict state rules on late-in-life bequests. The appellate court held that the trust ended with the family beneficiaries, leaving the remaining funds in the widow's estate instead of the Albany charity.
