Babylon Town Kicks Off Parent Leadership Training Program

Training helps parents become parents who lead.

The Child Care Council of Suffolk will kick off its Town of Babylon Parent Leadership Initiative training semester on Saturday, March 3, with a retreat at the Babylon Town Annex, 281 Phelps Lane, North Babylon from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Thereafter, the Town of Babylon PLI training will be held March 7 through June 6 on Wednesday from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., at Tanner Park Senior Center, Copiague.

Parent Leadership Initiative courses are held one night each week with dinner and child care provided. PLI is a dynamic initiative sponsored by the Child Care Council of Suffolk, Inc.

This program empowers parents to become advocates in their communities. Parents develop leadership skills, gain knowledge of public policy and increase involvement in their community.

Trained facilitators work with parents to acquire advocacy skills, bring about positive change and raise awareness in creating a caring community for children. PLI has been active for more than 20 years through the financial support of both private and public organizations. There is no fee for the program.
