Babylon Town Offers Senior Advocacy Help
County staffers visit local communities to help seniors get needed help, resources.

Babylon Town senior residents needing help with housing, food and other life essentials, as well as assistance with state and federal medical programs, can meet with a Suffolk County Senior Advocate to get help.
Advocates visit local communities on a regular basis to assist seniors, aged 60 and older, with information gathering, completion of eligibility or recertification applications and referrals to appropriate community agencies.
Here is the schedule for the Babylon area:
• West Babylon Library: Thursdays, Jan. 26 and March 22 from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m.
• Spangle Drive Center (North Babylon): Mondays, Feb. 6 and March 5 from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
• Deer Park Library: Tuesdays March 27 from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m.
• Rainbow Center (Lindenhurst): Wednesdays, Feb. 8 and March 7 from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m.
• Tanner Park Senior Center (Copiague): Wednesdays, Feb. 22 and March 21 from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
• Lindenhurst Library: Monday, Feb. 27 from 10 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
Advocates provide assistance with food stamps, Medicare savings programs, Medicaid applications and Heating Emergency Assistance Program (HEAP) applications, as well as answer questions and make additional recommendations and referrals.
For more information about available services, or for directions to any of the aforementioned locations, please call the Suffolk County Office for the Aging at (631) 853-8200. Appointments are encouraged although nobody will ever be turned away and drop-ins are welcome.
