Babylon Village Declares State Of Emergency

VILLAGE OF BABYLON, NY — Village of Babylon Mayor Ralph Scordino declared a state of emergency over the weekend due to the ongoing spread of the coronavirus. The order will allow village officials to acquire all items deemed necessary to sanitize its facilities and do its part to prevent the spread of the virus.
Here's what the state of emergency means for local residents:
- Residents are asked to avoid visiting Babylon Village Hall for any non-essential or non-urgent business and instead call or use online services. The Mayor's office can be reached at (631) 669-1212.
- The Village of Babylon Highway and Sanitation office will be closed to the public until further notice. The Village Highway and Sanitation office can be reached at (631) 669-4878 with any questions or concerns.
- The plastic bag program has been suspended as well.
- All Babylon schools will be closed for two weeks.
- The 2020 season opening of the E. Donald Conroy Golf Course at Sumpwams Creek in Babylon Village scheduled on Tuesday has been postponed.
- All restaurants, bars and gyms in the village will be closed until further notice.
- Restaurants and bars will close for on premise service and move to take out and delivery only during this period.
